The Second coordination meeting of LIFE NEXUS Project was held in CARTIF on 9th May, 2019. The meeting was attended by the entire consortium and external monitor of the Project, Mrs. Cristina Vicente Álvarez, from IDOM- NEEMO.
The advances made in the two preparatory actions of the Project were presented. On the one hand, the assessment of the energy recovery potential of mini-hydropower in urban water networks and the first European inventory of these locations that is being carried out within the framework of the LIFE NEXUS. At the moment, 71 potential and existing locations from 10 European countries have been identified. The database will be geo-referenced and will be available through the Project website in the coming months.
On the other hand, the works carried out in the demonstrator of the Porma drinking water treatment plant in León were presented. The designs of the micro-hydraulic prototype (pump functioning as a turbine and battery storage) and the energy management and monitoring platform have been completed. Network connection permits have been requested and it is expected that in the coming months, the tender will be published and awarded by Aguas de León.
We also commented on aspects related to the dissemination and networking with other projects.
