Once again, Poland hosted the 13th HYDROFORUM 2024 Hydropower Conference from 16 to 18 October. This time it was held in Krakow where around 130 delegates, including 16 participants from outside Poland coming not only from the neighbouring countries but also from remote destinations such as Romania or Portugal, as well as from South Africa or China, met to discuss the main issues related to the importance of hydropower and its future possibilities.
Through the European LIFE NEXUS project, which is in its final phase, the topic of the energy recovery in municipal water cycles was put on the table and special attention was paid to existing recovery installations, both in water supply networks and in heating networks. Courtesy of Kraków Water, the participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the facilities of the Płaszów Wasterwater Treatment Plant and the main pipeline supplying Kraków’s drinking water network. The visit was personally guided by Mr. Tadeusz Żaba, production manager of the aforementioned company.
The last two sesisons were mainly devoted to operational issues and presentation of selected results of research and development work.
